Gozopolitan.org is exposing ECO GOZO, the dumping with pictures showing construction waste scattered all over the site, limits of Gharb. One of the photos, which was passed on to the Mayor of Gharb (Mr David Apap Agius), but asked them to remove the photos immediatly, featured a lone construction truck stuck in the area after appearing to sustain a puncture on the rugged land. Officially, no illegal dumping is made in Gharb. Here is the proof!!!
The Gharb Residents' Association has again joined forces with other entities to protest against the proposed mushroom factory in Gharb in an area as big as 2 football pitches in yet another Outside Development Zone and immediately adjacent to a residential area.
Special thanks to Moviment Graffitti, who, earlier this week, protested in front of the MEPA Offices and made a particular mention of this proposed factory in Gharb.
With reference to the Project Description Statement (PDS) commissioned by the developers, it is noteworthy that since 2003, MEPA recommended a site at the Xewkija Industrial area. However, when they realised that there was a residential area within the zone, MEPA itself recommended withdrawal of this application because this development would have created hazards to the residents there.
Therefore what is unacceptable for Xewkija residents is likewise unacceptable for the Gharb residents.
Such a planning application should never be proposed near any residential area in Gozo. The raw sewage outflow in Wied il-Mielah Valley, Gharb, coupled with the stench of chicken manure from a mushroom farm would further compound the deterioration of the health and safety of the residents here.

‘Green’ Candidate for the Gharb Local Council Election.
As far as a know Mr Barnes is the first Maltese/Gozitan resident who commented in the local media about the FACT that people here qualify for EU food aid.
He rightly so commented that we have all received our donation of rice, pasta and biscuits marked "EU Aid, Not For Resale"
During the past months, I also found 3-5 1kg packets of rice on my door step. At first I thought that somebody wanted to play a joke. Reading the pack then I read the following on each pack: "EC Aid" "Product not for sale" "Reg (EC) 3149/92" "Rice"
Then after some months I found again some more packets of this EU Aid product on my door step!
Look at the photos I took of one of these packets, and start believing.
People like Joe Tabone-Adami, is trying to ridicule Mr Barnes. Joe Tabone-Adami who says that he follows 'closely' Malta's relations with the EU" commented thus:
"Joe Tabone-Adami (8 hours, 4 minutes ago)
I am in the habit of following closely Malta's relations with the other EU members. I am afraid I have been missing all these years those dealing with Malta's qualification for food aid "along with Zimbabwe and Darfur". It is news to me that any of our countrymen (or guests, for that matter) have been receiving donations of rice, pasta and biscuits marked 'EU aid not for resale' in the past few days - or at any time since our renewed EU membership application back in 1998. It would appear that Mr Barnes is mistaken about this, too. Incidentally, where was Mr Barnes during World War II?"
Unfortunately Joe Tabone-Adami does not follow things closely enough!
I can confirm that yes, here in Gharb Gozo, people find EU aid food on their doorstep!
And therefore, unlike Joe Tabone-Adami, I agree with our Gozo resident and friend Mr Barnes that:
"Malta, along with Zimbabwe and Darfur, currently qualify for EU food aid (we have all received our donation of rice, pasta and biscuits marked "EU Aid, Not For Resale" in the past few days). Can we really afford to send so much money up in smoke?" - referring aerial bombardment of BOMBI during all the summer season.
Hafna hawnhekk ighidulu cimblu. Ma nafx 'l ghaliex. Propjament glockenspiel jissejjah.
Mhux strument facli. L-aktar li jindaqq f'baned militari. Forsi ghax jirrekjedi certu dixxiplina biex iddoqqu?
Gieli kont Malta u smajt lil xi bandist idoqqu. Fil-baned Ghawdxin qatt ma smajtu ghalkemm xi 15-il sena ilu kont qed nghallmu lil wihed bandist mix-Xewkija - Ta' Fantin. Imma ma tantx dam idoqqu wisq. Nifhem li l-banda fiha rabta.
Il-glockenspiel huwa strument iehor li jghogobni. Pero' trid toqghod attend kif iddoqqu. Il-hoss fl-gholi (high pitch) tieghu jinstema' hafna u allura daqsxejn ta' zball jinstema wisq!
Trid tkun ziemel ghalih - kif ighidu. U jrid ikollok 'widna' tajba wkoll.
Xi ghaxar snin ilu, il-kunjatu kien xtara wiehed biex idoqqu mal-banda tar-rahal tieghu iz-Zebbug - banda li kienet ghadha kif giet imwaqqfa. Il-kunjatu daqqu darba u fullstop. Jien mort tajjeb, ghax kultant kont intektiklu daqtejn (lic-cimblu).
Xi gimgha ilu gie Mawrizju ta' Sander id-dar. Kien jaf li jien indoqq ic-cimblu u qalli jekk nithajjarx indoqq mal-banda ta' l-Gharb. Ghidtlu "mela le" anzi apprezzajt li qalli.
Gabli CD b'xi marci. Il-kunjatu silifni ic-cimblu u ghamilt gimgha nippruvah. Ergajt rattabt naqra idejja. Indoqq ic-Cd fuq il-player u ndoqq ic-cimblu mieghu.
Illejla Mawrizju gabli beritta u ngravata ghax ta' l-Gharb ser idoqqu l-marcijiet. Trid tarani bl-uniformi ta' bandist hej!
Mort. Daqqejt u hadt pjacir.
Filwaqt li naghti l-festa t-tajba lin-nies ta' l-Gharb, ismaghni ndoqq l-Innu Marcia sieheb billi taghfas fuq il-vidjow clip hawn taht:
