Jien OK u int?

Niltaqa' ma' nies li jghiduli li jammirawna.

X'hin nistaqsihom 'l ghaliex il-maggor parti jghiduli: "Tal-kuragg li ghandkom li tmorru kontra l-kurrent u fejn hu tajjeb tghidu li hu tajjeb u fejn hu hazin tghidu li hu hazin ghamlu min ghamlu."

"Allahares m'hawnx intom", ighidulna. "Komplu ahdmu".

Imbaghad nhobb nistaqsi "X'hemm bzonn nahdmu/naghmlu?"

...u hawn tibda litanija ta' suggerimenti:

'Ahdmu biex iggibu fondi ghal partit'
'Messkom tigru wara n-nies u ddahhluhom membri'
'Messkom taghmlu programmi fuq ir-radju u t-TV'
'L-ufficju ghandkom bzonn izzommuh miftuh kuljum'
'Qabbdu lil xi hadd mat-telephone ikellem lin-nies'
Organizzaw dik u organizzaw hekk u ghamlu hekk u hekk.... u l-lista ma tispicca qatt!

U mbaghad nistaqsi: INT X'TISTA TAGHMEL?

u r-risposta tvarja:

"Jien m'ghandix cans"
"Jien nahdem mal-Gvern u nibza li jaghmluli vendikazzjoni"
"Jien imhabbat...ghandi bizzejjed x'naghmel"

u l-aktar wahda komuni... "ma rridx niccappas" ( u dawn l-istess nies tarahom fil-kju quddiem il-garaxijiet fejn jaqdu l-membri parlamentari tad-distrett!)

Imma ssib dawk il-ftit li tassew jaghtu valur lid-demokrazija u l-futur taghhom u tal-familji taghhom. Jidhlu ghal xi bicca xoghol imqar zghira.

Alternattiva Demokratika ghadha kif ghamlet pubbliku r-rapport tat-telfa elettorali. Tista' taqrah bl-Ingliz billi taghfas hawnhekk. Jekk tippreferi bil-Malti tista taqrah minn hawn.

Issa jmiss li naghmlu xi haga. Ahna? jien? int? min?

Jekk jinteressak il-futur tad-demokrazija f'pajjizek, l
-anqas li tista' taghmel bhalissa huwa li tattendi laqgha straordinarja li ser issir nhar is-Sibt li gej fil-Waterfront Hotel, The Strand, Gzira. Nibdew bejn id-9.00 u d-9.30 u nlestu f'xi nofsinhar. Issir elezzjoni ta' kumitat ezekuttiv gdid ta' Alternattiva Demokratika - the Green Party. Ir-registrazzjoni bla hlas.

Schemes for the big and the small fish?

The Malta Enterprise in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo and the Gozo Business Chamber organised an information seminar in Gozo. This seminar primarily aimed to promote Gozo for industry especially that connected with the manufacturing and services sectors. It was also intentioned to increase awareness, amongst Gozitan industrialists and employers, on the various incentive schemes for industry administered by Malta Enterprise.

It is reported that the Minister for Gozo stressed the importance for Gozitan businessmen and entrepreneurs to become familiar with the many schemes launched by Government through Malta Enterprise in order to promote and facilitate industry.

The professional support and assistance given by Malta Enterprise is considered as an important added value to the various fiscal and non fiscal incentives one may benefit from these schemes. Minister Debono also remarked that some of these schemes would be co-funded through EU funds. Gozo will be benefiting through at least 10% of EU funds allocated to Malta for budgetary period 2008-2013.

I always wondered who those are really benefiting from such schemes. Is it a big or a small fish? I sometimes ask myself whether there is any exclusivity for that individual/s. Do I need a favour from somebody if I want to know more?

Gozo the future eco-island

German Green MEP to discuss Gozo as an eco-island

Source: www.adgozo.com On:Sat 03/05/2008 12:00 (2589)

MEP Gisela Kallenbach has accepted an invitation by Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party to pay a visit and to hold a public debate in Gozo in the coming weeks..

Ms Kallenbach is a German Green MEP and a member of the EU Regional Development Committee. She is responsible for the European Regional Development Fund, the Cohesion Fund and other instruments of the Union’s regional policy. Assessing the impact of Eruopean Union policies on economic and social cohesion, outermost regions and islands as well as trans-frontier and interregional cooperation are amongst her responsibilities.

For many years Ms Kallenbach represented the city of Leipzig on the Eurocities environment committee and is an Honorary member of Solar City Leipzig and Haus der Umwelt (environment house) associations.

“When I heard about the Malta Green Party’s proposal to turn Gozo into an ecological island over a year ago, I increased my interest in this island-region and happily accepted the invitation by Alternattiva Demokratika to visit the island soon” said Ms Kallenbach.

AD spokesman for Gozo and secretary general of the Malta Green Party, Mr Victor Galea said that “We are honored to host Ms. Kallenbach in Gozo and we envisage that a public debate will be held in order to learn from success stories of other EU countries where the state seriously invested in sustainable tourism, jobs and the improvement of the ecology. We also hope that the Maltese Government’s promise to take up the Alternattiva Demokratika suggestion is implemented as soon as possible in order to turn Gozo into an ecological island, while enhancing its unique characteristics.”

“A strategy to generate energy mainly through alternative sources would create a substantial amount of Gozo-specific employment and add value to the island’s unique characteristics. The establishment of Gozo as an island model by virtue of pioneering its launch as a centre of studies in renewable energy, concurrently generating new employment for technicians, engineers, marketeers and hospitality representatives is something Alternattiva Demokratika looks forward to.”

“Our aspiration is to have Gozo become the country’s leader in exploiting alternative sources of energy and establishing itself as a centre in alternative energy studies while promoting a campaign to reduce energy bills for households and businesses in Gozo” concluded the secretary general of Alternattiva Demokratika.

During her stay in Malta, MEP Gisela Kallenbach will also be holding a speech during the annual meeting of the members of the Foundation of European Societies of Arm Collectors (FESAC).

Agro and Eco Holidays in Gozo

Reading the Sunday newspapers today I was so pleased to read a contribution as a letter to the Sunday Independent Editor under the name of Not. J. L. Attard (Read HERE).Not sure if Attard is the one I know.

Although the first part of his letter was focused on statistical figures of unemployment written in quite a partisan way and thus bashing the PN government, the rest of his letter was positive. I am so pleased that
finally another Gozitan can see a solution to create more jobs in Gozo by investing in the agri-tourism sector.

Two summers ago, an SBS Radio representative visited Gozo. She and her family participated in one of the experiences offered by the Ager Foundation. She interviewed me (in Maltese) and some of the service providers - farmers. I downloaded the sound clip from the Sydney Radio and created the video clip below and added it to the new Ager Foundation Youtube page.

Gozo and Orkney Islands

My colleague Perit Carmel Cacopardo did a very interesting blog entry this week. He called it

Island generates sustainable future

I have a feeling that one day more than 300 Gozitans will see that Gozo' sleepy pace of life, the rural scenery, natural beauty, historical assets will attract more holiday makers than the present policy makers.

Don't you agree?

Cheers

Victor

Kampanja ta' gideb u biza', issa f'Ghawdex ukoll

Mhux biss fid-djar tan-nies li jghixu fl-10 u d-9 distrett izda issa wkoll fit-13-il distrett, voldieri f'Ghawdex.

Marru fuqu l-familjari ta' wiehed mill-kandidati tal-PN u tghidx xi priedka ghamlulu biex ma jmurx jaghti xi vot lili.

Qalli: "Gabuni tifel zghir. Qaluli biex lanqas it-2 jew it-3 jew il-4 ma naghti lill-Kandidat ta' l-Alternattiva"

Jien: "Veru jew?"

Qalli: "Xejn... anzi qaluli biex jekk jien imdejjaq bin-Nazzjonalisti, ahjar nivvota lil xi hadd minn tal-Lejber milli naghti xi vot lil ta' l-Alternattiva"

Jien: "U x'ghidtilhom"

Qalli: "Ghidtilhom li int tigi minni u kont qed nahseb li almenu jhalluni bi kwieti"

Jien: "Nahseb li nhasdu x'hin ghidtilhom li tigi minni"

Qalli: "Lanqas xejn ma nhasdu. Kienu qed jistennewni nghidilhom hekk anzi, ghamluli priedka biex nivvota lejber basta mhux lil ta' l-Alternattiva."

X'tahsbu eh? arroganza jew perswazzjoni?

Stejjer bhal dawn jaghmlu l-politika mahmuga. Minn servizz igibu l-politika hmieg. Minn banda tajjeb tohrog il-verita' minn qalb certu nies li jilghabuha tal-martri quddiem l-interess ta' Ghawdex.

Isma d-diskors taghna kemm hu differenti. Il-Vot tieghek mhux ta' l-AD jew il-PN jew l-AN jew l-MLP. Il-vot tieghek m'hu ta' ebda partit, lanqas m'hu tan-nanna jew tal-buznanna.

Int taf li jekk tivvota lili, jien ser nahdem ghall-interess ta' Ghawdex u mhux ghal tal-qalba. Jekk trid hekk, nirringrazzjak tal-vot.

Jekk tahseb li hrigt ghonqi niddefendi lill-diversi residenti u setturi f'Ghawdex matul dawn l-ahhar snin, ghamilt dan ghal xi gwadann personali; allura tivvotalix.

Ivvota u gib bidla fil-mentalita'. Grazzi hafna tal-vot tieghek.

The chances for AD to be elected to parliament

A doctor and a friend of mine visited me last night. I got a cold so I have to be careful.

"What are the Gozitans saying Dott?" I asked.

"Well, as you know, I do not follow politics throughout the year, but I do follow a bit during these days before the election. One new thing I noticed this year. Like never before the PN are worrying too much about AD being elected to parliament. I know that during home visits, they are telling people lies about voting AD. One of the lies is 'vote AD means voting labour'. I think that such stupid statements will backfire and AD will get more and more support from the intelligent voter, namely from the floating voters."

"It will backfire....treating people stupid is no good"

"Get well soon"

They say that it is impossible for AD to be elected to Parliament.

If approximately 2500 in one district vote for AD then it is very likely that AD will elect a member to Parliament. Considering that AD has been working very hard to explain and promote its vision for a coalition government for all the Maltese people, the prospects of this happening are very good.

Please check if your Vote belongs to you. (1)

They say that a vote for AD is a vote for the MLP. Is this true?

Incorrect. This statement is based on the assumption that all the people who vote for AD have previously voted for PN. This is very far from the truth. AD’s potential voting pool comes from a wide variety of sources. There is a core Green vote consisting of people who have always voted for the Greens, new voters (over 17,000), people who have voted for the MLP and people who would not cast their vote if the Green Party was not contesting. By no stretch of the imagination can it be stated that every person who votes for AD intended to vote for the Nationalist party. In any case votes do not “belong” to any political party but to the voter who may use it as s/he pleases at different times.

Don't allow yourself to be a puppet on a string:

Job Opportunities for Gozitans (5).

Much had been said that Gozo should be promoted as tourist destination separately from Malta and not as an appendix of Malta's tourist product.

Fully agree.

What sort of action did the government invest in this regard? Any specific budget just to promote Gozo?

Alternattiva Demokratika acknowledges the fact that Gozo has a great deal to offer to the tourist apart from the climate.

Besides agricultural, fishing, manufacturing, tourism and services industries, AD gives full support to the heritage of Gozo.

Older properties could be sympathetically restored to enhance the character of the community - a good number of job opportunities in this sector. Indeed, jobs from the construction industry. And this is sustainable development.

Such a plan should include public transport and the integration of the 48% of empty dwellings in Gozo.

Some money needs to be diverted to cope with the increasing amount of litter which more often seems to be dumped in the countryside.

Job opportunities in alternative energies should be explored.

If these and more of similar points are addressed, Gozo will once again be valued for what it really is.

Please do go and read our 21 proposals for creating new, modern and sustainable jobs in Gozo by clicking here.
